Welcome to the Autumn 2019 issue of the European Federation of Internal Medicine Newsletter.
I would like to thank you all for your active participation at the EFIM General Assembly that was held in conjunction with the 18th European Congress of Internal Medicine, ECIM, held in Lisbon from 29 – 31 August.
Thanks to the hard and creative work of ECIM 2019 President, Dr. Luis Campos, the congress was a great success with more than 2000 participants and a scientific programme where the topics and the speakers fully met the expectations.
EFIM would like to thank Luis Campos and the Portuguese Society of Internal Medicine for their support making ECIM 2019 in Lisbon a real success.
As EFIM membership continues to grow, we are glad to be welcoming two new societies onboard the Dominican Republic Society of Internal Medicine as
an Associate member and the Hellenic Society of Internal Medicine as an Ordinary member. EFIM members societies can become more involved in the decisions that shape the future of the Federation and ensure continuing progress of EFIM.
It has been wonderful to observe the growth of EFIM in recent years and I am certain that together we will continue to raise the profile of internal medicine in Europe.
EFIM is already preparing to set the stage in Malaga for another successful congress in March 2021 together with Prof. Ricardo Gomez Huelgas, the
President of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine, but prior to the congress we are looking forward to welcoming you to Krakow for the 6th MIRCIM Course and EFIM Academic Day from 7 – 9 May 2020.
